Sunday Funday

So I'm trying this Stash Sunday thing out.

Bam! Button:

Molli Sparkles
And now, my stash!

This is Witch Hazel by October Afternoon from Riley Blake Designs, along with some solids from Corton Couture, I think.  I got it all at Hawthorn Threads, along with some grey and orange Auriful thread in 40 weight. This is going to become the second in what I'm now dubbing The Seasons and Holiday Quilt Series, or now we'll have a quilt for every holiday or season change for the chaise in the living room. The dog certainly will appreciate this.  Backing fabric will be ordered once it's back in stock.  I wonder if I'll have it done by the 31st.....

Mom is already contemplating an Easter/Spring quilt, since we have a winter quilt with Gnomas all over it.  Not too Christmasy but certainly cute.  Perhaps a Christmas one will be in order.

A break in service

It seems I've once again failed at starting up and maintaining a blog.  I'm not terribly suprised, I have a full time job, take college classes towards a second BA, and entertain myself with my various time and money consuming hobbies.

But, this semester I'm less laden with school (only one class) and the water will be getting cooler soon, so even less diving than I was before.  However, the boyfriend has FINALLY gotten his open water certification, so I have a built in dive buddy, once he acquires dive gear.

Have I been quilting in time time?  Have I been taking pictures, or boxing, or cooking? Kind of.  I've taken a whole bunch of bumpkis with the good camera.   Lots of iPhone crap though.  Like this:

That's the jetty at the park.   I run there.  Sometimes.  I'm pretending to train for a half marathon.  However, I did not pretend to pay for it.  I'm out over 300 for a 5k and a half.   At Disney.  And I've fallen away from training.  Tweeted my knee.  Joy.

I've been sewing, a little bit. Got good and burnt out.  But I have a little to show for it:

I bought this pattern several years ago.  It only took me that long to get enough scraps to make it, and I still had to buy yardage.  Quilting is curtesy the local quilt shop and my willingness to pay for someone else to quilt it.

This is the back.  I love this fabric from the Safari Moon line.  Zebras = love.

I also have been struggling with the Lucky Stars BOM.  I'm behind several months.  I think I'm burnt out on paper piecing for now.  Plus most of my blocks have been coming out nasty wonky, and not in a good way. More like uneven edges and seams wonky. Like this:

Wretched.  I'll probably try to put a border on it.  Even it out.  Plus, bad choices with fabric.  The center part is two different fabrics. Really, I swear.  Just doesn't look it.  Looks bad to be honest.  Good thing the small blocks are going on the back, if I ever finish this quilt.

I also went to Chicago.

And I have decided to delve into Letterboxing Trading Cards.  (An offshoot of Artist Trading Cards).

All in all, pretty rank and file stuff.

I've some Halloween fabric on its way, as well as some Moonshine layer cakes.  Mom wants a Halloween quilt, so once that gets here, I'll get on it.  Oh, and I'll be ordering the backing fabric once it's back in stock with my favorite online fabric purveyor.  Pictures will follow for certain.

And that's it, for now
